Description of Service

unlock-my-xlsx.com provides a free, browser-based tool that attempts to remove protection from Microsoft Excel files (.xls and .xlsx formats). The tool operates entirely within your web browser — no files are transmitted to our servers.

The Service is capable of removing the following types of Excel protection where technically feasible:

• Workbook structure protection (preventing adding/removing/renaming sheets)
• Worksheet-level password protection (preventing editing of sheet contents)
• Protected cell ranges
• VBA project password protection (where applicable)

The Service cannot remove workbook-open (file-open) passwords — encryption applied via Excel's "Encrypt with Password" feature. This type of encryption protects the entire file and requires the original password to open.

Authorised Use — Your Responsibility

You may only use this Service to process files that you own or for which you have explicit written authorisation from the legitimate owner to remove protection.

By using this Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You are the owner of the file, or have been explicitly authorised by the owner to unlock it
• Your use of the Service does not violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
• You are not using this Service to circumvent protection on files belonging to your employer, clients, or any third party without their explicit consent
• You are at least 18 years of age or have parental/guardian consent

Circumventing file protection without authorisation may constitute an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 (UK), the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (US), the EU Directive on Attacks Against Information Systems, or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction. You bear sole and full legal responsibility for your use of this Service.

No Warranty — Best Effort Basis

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

You use this Service entirely at your own risk. We strongly recommend maintaining a backup copy of any file you process before using this tool.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, unlock-my-xlsx.com, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or file corruption
• Loss of business, revenue, or profits
• Legal consequences arising from unauthorised use of the tool
• Any reliance placed on the results produced by the tool

This limitation applies regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of the theory of liability.

Intellectual Property

The Service and its content (design, text, code, graphics) are the intellectual property of unlock-my-xlsx.com and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our prior written consent.

This Service uses the following open-source libraries under their respective licences: SheetJS (Apache 2.0) and JSZip (MIT). Their use does not imply endorsement by their authors.

Advertising

This Service displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense to fund its free operation. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you may be served advertisements. You may opt out of personalised advertising via Google's Ads Settings.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use this Service to:

• Unlock files belonging to others without their explicit consent
• Circumvent copy protection, DRM, or access controls on commercially licensed content
• Engage in any activity that is unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful to third parties
• Attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or its infrastructure
• Introduce malicious code, viruses, or any software intended to damage or disrupt the Service

Availability & Service Changes
